The Day After

Some initial thoughts on the general election.

To begin with I was filled with despair but now I've had a chance to think things over I can see some positive aspects of last night's defeat for Labour and the crushing of the Lib Dems:
  1. Boris Johnson now owns Brexit. Any difficulties or problems with Brexit are now his alone to deal with. Brexit was never going to be easy and it's possible that Johnson will get the blame for the inevitable problems, compromises and general under achievement that Brexit will bring.
  2. Labour may find a new and charismatic leader to lead them to victory next time round.
  3. Nigel Farage is yesterday's man and yesterday's news.
  4. Ruth Smeeth  lost her seat.
